We’re taking the streets! Against the further expansion of Halle/Leipzig Airport at the expense of the population and the climate.
Despite massive criticism and years of protests, DHL and the state government are joining forces to push ahead with the expansion of the Leipzig/Halle cargo airport – we stand against this!p
We call to join our demonstration on Saturday 07/30/22. Come along and be loud with us against the expansion and the nocturnal aircraft noise! Start is 11 a.m. at the Schkeuditz S-Bahn station!
Together we demand:
– an immediate end to the expansion plans for Leipzig/Halle Airport
– a ban on night flights
– less cargo flights and less aircraft noise for everyone
– an end to the noisiest aircraft types and a new schedule of fees that promotes the use of less polluting and quieter aircraft types in the long term
– concepts for the redesign of the airport, drafted with broad citizen participation and with the goal to improve the lives of workers and local residents
– an ecologically and socially just turnaround in traffic, including a reduction in fossil fuels
With the expansion, DHL and the state government are putting economic interests ahead of the needs of the residents who have been exposed to fine dust and nocturnal aircraft noise for years. In addition, corporations such as DHL and Amazon are driving global goods traffic, which is primarily at the expense of people from the Global South, whose livelihoods are threatened by the climate crisis. We fight to end this politics of ignorance and injustice – For a good life for all! See you on July 30th. – loud, colorful and determined!
